Payet's goals have all been bonuses. He was bought first and foremost to create chances, as he has done tremendously. He was not bought to be a primary goal-scorer, but he got a good few. If anything, he was over-achieveing at first, getting so many goals.

To be fair Payet did go off the boil a bit. I wouldn't have said "Come up short" but there was a noticeable difference to Payet, pre and post France call up.
The little genius still got loads of assists when he wasnt scoring so if thats him coming up short, he still deserves his plaudits

There is a reason Keys keep going on about West Ham. it's the same reason people like Fordy go on about Noble. It's because they get a reaction.

All started at the end of the Stoke game. Keys was very upbeat in reminding us watching in the Middle East that we lost and, in his words, "West Ham are not in Europe"

For his first season no way did Payet come up short he was pretty brilliant, had he been at West Ham for 3 seasons then maybe you can say he could have done better.
